Have you heard of moon milk? I like to put it under the same category as golden milk or turmeric tea. It’s basically all the same thing, but different names. Moon Milk Turmeric Tea Recipe

What You Will Need(Full Printable Recipe Available Below)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup almond milk (make your own almond milk)
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric root
  • 1/4 tsp fresh ginger
  • 1/4 tsp cardamon
  • 1 tsp ashwagandha powder
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • small pinch of lavender
  • tiny pinch of black pepper
  • raw honey or pure maple syrup to taste

Golden Milk Benefits

  • Turmeric
    • If you haven’t heard of moon milk then you may have heard of golden milk or turmeric tea. Turmeric is known to be great for inflammation and joints. Turmeric for inflammation is one of the reasons I started to drink this golden tea in the first place since I spend so much time in the gym working out.   • Ginger
    • As it turns out, ginger is also known for its anti-inflammatory properties making this turmeric ginger tea recipe delicious and beneficial. fantastic and helpful. Find this in the produce section at your local grocery store or online HERE.
  • Cardamom
    • Cardamom is supposed to be great for digestion, hypertension and again, an anti-inflammatory. Naturally, we cant make our turmeric golden milk without this wonderful spice. Get it online HERE.
  • Ashwagandha
    • It seems ashwagandha may help lower cortisol levels (the stress hormone), as well as reduce stress and anxiety. Who wouldn’t want that? Find it online HERE.
  • Cinnamon
    • Besides, it’s spicy aroma cinnamon is also full of antioxidants, making a great spice addition to our moon milk recipe.
  • Lavender
    • Lavender is known for its relaxation properties. It is known to reduce anxiety while improving sleep quality. Find some HERE.
  • Black Pepper
    • Turmeric and pepper often work together because the pinch of black pepper helps the body to absorb the turmeric.
  • Honey or Maple Syrup
    • The raw honey or pure maple syrup is simply your optional sweetener and healthier than traditional sugar.

How to Make Golden Milk

Directions:

  • Place your almond milk into a pot over the stove. You can use store bought or make your own almond milk. Here is how to make almond milk yourself at home. Trust me, it’s easier than you’d think and there are no added unnecessary ingredients.
  • Add in the ginger root and turmeric root and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat and let the milk simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • Once your milk and roots have finished simmering, add in the cardamom, ashwagandha, cinnamon, lavender, and pepper. Moon Milk Recipe for Relaxation and Sleep aka Golden Milk (5)
  • Let it steep again for 5 minutes.
  • Next, place your milk and herbs in a blender with your coconut oil and honey.
  • Blend until frothy.

*Quick Notes*

It’s best to use the fresh root when it comes to ginger root and turmeric root. But dried ginger or turmeric powder can be used in place of the fresh roots if necessary. If you use the dried powder you don’t have to simmer for 30 minutes. Instead, bring the milk to a boil and add in all of your herbs. Let the moon milk tea mixture steep for only 5 minutes. Then add in your coconut oil and honey, and blend. When using the fresh roots, you need to freshly grate or cut small and simmer for longer. The simmering process helps to bring out the ‘good for you’ properties of the roots, which make the golden moon milk tea the most beneficial.
